If you have searched for Fresno brow tinting or eyelash tinting in Fresno, you have probably found a lot of price lists and not much explanation. So let me tell you what these two small services actually do, who they suit, and what to expect when you sit in my chair.

I am Jeannie Burkhart. I have been a licensed aesthetician since 1997, and I run Simply Faces Skin Care as a solo studio in Fig Garden Village in north Fresno. Tinting is one of those little things that quietly changes your morning, and I think it is worth understanding before you book.

What tinting actually is

A tint is a gentle, semi-permanent dye applied to your lashes or your brow hair. That is the whole idea. It darkens the hair you already have so your eyes look more defined without a stitch of makeup.

Brow tinting darkens the brow hairs and, done well, makes sparse or fair brows read fuller and more shaped. Lash tinting darkens your lashes from root to tip, so they look longer and thicker in the mirror even when you are bare faced.

Neither one is an extension and neither one is a lift. It is your own hair, just a richer color.

Who tinting suits

Tinting is a favorite of the women I see who are busy and do not want to fuss. If you have fair or graying brow hair, tinting brings them back. If you have blonde or pale lash tips that disappear without mascara, tinting gives you that mascara look you can swim in, sweat in and wake up with.

It suits you especially well if you are:

• Tired of reapplying brow pencil and mascara every day
• Heading into a trip or a pool season and do not want makeup running
• Someone with lighter or grayer hair who wants definition back
• Sensitive to heavy eye makeup and want a cleaner look

A quick honest note. If your skin around the eyes is reactive, or you have had a reaction to hair dye before, tell me before we start. I patch test when there is any question, and I would rather delay a tint than surprise your skin.

What to expect at the appointment

Tinting is quick and calm. I clean the area, protect the skin around your lashes or brows, apply the tint, let it develop, and remove it. You are looking at a short visit, not a long one, and there is no downtime. You walk out and go on with your day.

The color is not permanent. It gradually softens as your hair naturally sheds and grows, so most people come back on a rhythm to keep it looking fresh. It is an easy add-on to a facial, which is how a lot of my clients do it.

If you want more than color, brow and lash lamination is coming. Lamination sets the shape of the hair, brushed-up brows or lifted lashes, and I am finishing my training on it now. If that is on your list, ask me and I will tell you when it is ready.
