Jeannie Burkhart, Master Aesthetician
Fresno’s Most Experienced Facialist
Jeannie has been taking care of Central Valley skin since 1997. That is 29 years of facials, advanced training she paid and traveled for, and the judgment that only comes from doing this work every day.
Since 1997
Twenty-Nine Years at the Treatment Table
Jeannie Burkhart began her career in skin care in 1997. She has worked in salons and in med spas, and today she runs Simply Faces Skin Care, a private studio in Fresno where every appointment is one on one with her. You are never handed off to someone newer.
She trained in European-style esthetics, with classical facial, neck and décolletage massage at the heart of her work. Over the years she added oncology skin care, acne treatment, dermaplaning and medical-grade peels, and she went looking for every one of those trainings herself.
That depth is what lets her look at your skin, ask the right questions and know what it needs that day. The payoff for you is fewer guesses, gentler treatments and a plan built for the skin you actually have.
Credentials
Licenses, Certifications and Training
Esthetic School Was the Least of Her Training
California has never required continuing education for estheticians. Once licensed, an esthetician can put acids on your face and shave it with a surgical scalpel blade without another day of training. Jeannie sees that as a real gap, so for 29 years she has paid for, and traveled to, the education the state never asked her to get.
“Esthetic school was the least amount of knowledge I obtained. That just gets you past state board and your licensing. Everything else I invested in and traveled for was the difference between being okay and really competent at my job.”
International Dermal Institute
Advanced classes and certifications in skin science through the International Dermal Institute.
Rhonda Allison Peel Courses
Day-and-a-half advanced chemical peel trainings taught by Rhonda Allison herself, a paramedical esthetician known for calling out anyone who had not mastered the basics. Jeannie took them more than once.
Professional Skin Care Lines
Product and protocol education from Obagi, SkinCeuticals and Peter Thomas Roth, back when Peter Thomas Roth was still a professional-only line.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning training from registered nurses, the same epidermal leveling she offers in the studio today.
She also learned from the independent estheticians who came before her and shared what they knew. Her certifications in oncology skin care and acne treatment came the same way: she went looking for them.
What 29 Years Looks Like in the Treatment Room
Experience shows up in small decisions. Jeannie knows the acids in every peel she uses and the pH they work at, and she asks about allergies before anything touches your skin.
She preps the skin for extractions during your facial and through your home care, so by the next visit they come out easily. She reads your comfort as she goes and stops before you leave sore. Clients who have had facials elsewhere often tell her the extractions did not hurt the way they expected.
She also knows when to say no. If you have been getting peels somewhere else and she does not know what was used, she will not extract until she does. If a request falls outside an esthetician’s scope, she says so.
And she knows when to send you to a doctor. Scaly patches, rashes and unusual lumps go to a dermatologist. She once flagged a small scaly spot on a client’s forehead that turned out to be precancerous.
Every appointment is booked with extra time, so nothing gets rushed or skipped. She spends the most time on the consultation at the start and on your home routine at the end, and she sends you home with a written cheat sheet so you know your steps.
Oncology Care From Someone Who Has Been There
Jeannie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. She went through six rounds of chemotherapy and kept working through most of it. She had wanted to train in oncology esthetics before her diagnosis, and after treatment she did.
“After treatment it felt like I’d already faced a lot of demons. I had the attitude of ‘What do I have to be afraid of now?’ and ‘What do I have to offer these women who are terrified?’”
Today she is a certified oncology aesthetician. She knows what chemotherapy does to skin because she lived it, and she adjusts every treatment to where a client is in their care. Read her own account of her skin during chemotherapy, or learn about oncology facials.
The Products She Trusts, and Why
Jeannie carries four professional lines, and she can tell you exactly why each one earned its place.
Rhonda Allison
Created by the paramedical esthetician who trained Jeannie in person. Its barrier-repair products are what she used on her own skin during chemotherapy, and she still uses them in the studio.
Vivant
An acne-focused line from dermatologist Dr. James E. Fulton, co-developer of Retin-A. Used correctly, she considers it one of the best acne and anti-aging lines she knows.
Epionce
A dermatologist-developed line built on clean ingredients and gentle exfoliation without retinol.
Jane Iredale
Mineral makeup she has worn for nearly 30 years. It suits oily, acne-prone, sensitive and aging skin, and it does not settle into pores or lines.

Where Her Work Stops
Jeannie is an esthetician, and she is clear about where that ends. She does not diagnose, prescribe or inject. When something needs a dermatologist or your own doctor, she will tell you. Knowing that line is part of the job, and it is part of why clients trust her with their skin.
“I trusted her and I’m so glad I did! I wish I had done this years ago! The facials and the products WORK! I couldn’t believe it! Jeannie handed me the confidence I lost about 30 years ago.”

Since 1997. That is 29 years of hands-on facials and skin care, today in her private studio, Simply Faces Skin Care, in Fresno.
What does Master Aesthetician mean?
It is Jeannie’s professional title, and it reflects nearly three decades of advanced training on top of her California esthetician license. California licenses estheticians at a single level and does not require continuing education, so the training an esthetician chooses after school is what sets one apart. Jeannie’s includes the International Dermal Institute, Rhonda Allison’s advanced peel courses, and certifications in oncology skin care and acne.
Is Jeannie certified to work with clients going through cancer treatment?
Yes. She is a certified oncology aesthetician and a breast cancer survivor herself. Oncology facials are adjusted to where you are in treatment, so text or call her before booking.
Can Jeannie help with acne?
Yes. She is acne specialist certified and builds treatment around the type of acne you have, pairing facials with a home routine. The free acne assessment is the easiest place to start. Learn about oncology facials.
Is Jeannie a dermatologist?
No. She is a licensed esthetician. She does not diagnose conditions, prescribe medication or offer injectables, and she refers clients to a dermatologist when something needs medical care. Start your free acne assessment.
